The testing requirements about porcelain insulator
Generally there are many testing requirements about porcelain insulators in tender. Orient Group can provide these test reports to help the bidders to win in the tender.
1. General about porcelain insulator
All materials shall comply with the test criteria, and the Employer's acceptance of the insulators shall not relieve the Contractor of his responsibility for meeting all the requirements of this specification.
The Contractor shall carry out, at his own expense, all tests necessary to ensure the satisfactory design and manufacture of the insulator units in accordance with IEC Standards.
Actual test procedures to be used shall be subject to Employer’s acceptance and approval.
2.Shop Tests about porcelain insulator
Insulator units shall be subjected to the design, quality conformance, and routine tests in accordance with IEC test requirements and all other applicable tests mentioned in this Specification.
3.Design Tests about porcelain insulato
Design tests in accordance with applicable IEC standards and corresponding certified test reports are always required when the insulator type is Contractor’s new design or Contractor’s previous design with significant design changes (i.e. prototype). For this, the Contractor shall submit the test procedures he intends to use for Employer’s review and acceptanc
2.Type Tests about porcelain insulator
3.2.1 Insulator Units
Type test for cap and pin insulator units shall be in accordance with all the requirements of IEC 60383-1. It is not required to perform type tests on insulator units during Contract execution as the type tested insulators shall be supplied by the manufacturer.
Methods of tests shall comply with the requirements of the above standard, unless otherwise specified in the following clauses.
3.2.2 Insulator Sets

3.3Sample Tests about porcelain insulator
The Contractor shall, give the Employer the requisite period of notice prior to undertaking Sample Tests.
Sample tests for string insulator (cap & pin) insulator units shall be undertaken in accordance with the requirements of IEC 60383-1and IEC 61325.
3.4Routine Tests about porcelain insulator
Routine tests for string insulator (cap and pin) insulator units shall be undertaken in accordance with the requirements of IEC 60383-1.
3.5Galvanizing of porcelain insulator
Tests for galvanized insulator caps, bases and pins shall be carried out at the works to ensure compliance with the requirements of ISO 1461. Details of the test results shall be made available to the Employer upon request.
4. Test Reports about porcelain insulator
Six (6) copies of test reports of all standards tests performed subsequent to the date of award and all routine and quality conformance tests shall be certified by the inspector and submitted to the Employer within fifteen (15) days after test.
The Contractor shall bear the cost of furnishing these records and reports.
