Strain clamp or dead end clamp for electrical fitting is used to fix the conductor and withstand the tension of the conductor. Strain clamp will perform the function to connect the conductor to the insulator tension string or tower fittings.

According to structure and installation condition, strain clamp can be divided into two types:
Bolted strain clamp and compression strain clamp:
Bolted strain clamp is supposed to withstand the full tension of the conductor or earth wire, and its grip strength should be not less than 90% of the conductor or earth wire, but bolted strain clamp won’t be as a conductor. This kind of dead end clamp for electrical power fitting can be removed after installed.
Compression strain clamp should be not only withstand the tension of the conductor or ground wire, but should also perform as the conductor, so the compression strain clamp can’t be dismantled after installed.
