Composite station post insulator Definition:
Composite station post insulator is a kind of silicone rubber apparatus insulators. Its design consists of a resin impregnated fiberglass core, a polymeric housing and metallic end fitting attachment devices. Composite station post insulator applies ANSI C29.19 international standard.
Polymer or composite station post insulator can have many mechanical loading: compression, cantilever, tensile and/or torsion, depending on the application.

Performance indicators of Composite station post insulator:
Composite post insulator cantilever breaking load (CBL):
The maximum load can be reached during destructive cantilever testing. Damage to the core is likely to occur at loads lower than the cantilever breaking load.
Composite post insulator specified cantilever load (SCL):
The SCL is a value that has to be verified during a cantilever load test. It forms the cantilever basis for selection of a composite insulator.
Composite post insulator specified tensile load (STL):
It is the tensile load which can be withstood by the insulator when tested in accordance with ANSI C29.11-2004, section 8.3.1.3.1. This value is considered to be equivalent to a one minute withstand, and is specified by the insulator manufacturer.
Composite post insulator specified compression load:
It is the compression load which can be withstood by the high voltage insulator when tested as described in ANSI C29.11-2004 section 8.3.2. This value is considered to be a one minute withstand, and is specified by the manufacturer.
Composite station post insulator specified torsion load:
It is the minimum torsion failing load of the insulator when tested as described in ANSI C29.11-2004 section 8.3.1.3.4. This value is specified by the manufacturer.
